TDMS has, due to the perseverance of its members and office bearers, been able to approach the problems of social change with a multidimensional all encompassing vision. The fact that the TDMS has worked diligently for over 80 years gives it a vast outreach at the grassroots level, therefore it would not be erroneous to say that it occupies and exclusive and advantageous position of influence.

At the national level, TDMS spearheaded the preparations for the Beijing Conference and was instrumental in bringing the voices of the women of North East India and a wide spectrum of gender issues to the international arena in 1995. TDMS enabled participation from the region at all preparatory meetings- national and international and at the Beijing Conference itself.

ABOUT TDMS

TDMS is a federation of about 120 primary women's organisations at the village level with a total membership of over 10,000 women. It also serves as an agency for Facilitation, Training, Monitoring, Evaluation, Assessment and Implementation of Projects.
