OUR ADVOCACY ACTIVITIES

 

The Samiti undertakes advocacy programmes around the issue of gender and child rights. 

 

Examples of such activities are:

Three articles entitled "Gender Watch" which dealt with the subjects of VAW, patriarchy and history of the celebration of International Women's Day on 8th March were published in the Sunday magazine of the well known English daily " The Sentinel. These articles were titled 'Women Right is Human Right', 'Different but not Unequal' and 'Awakening of Women'.
The Samiti observed the International Fortnight Protesting Violence Against Women (VAW) from November 25th, 2004 to 10th December, 2004. The fortnight opened in Tezpur on 25th November at the District Library.
8th March 2005 - International Women's Day: The International Women's Day was observed by TDMS all the way through a TV program in the local cable network 'Agnigarh' and poster campaign and procession with the communities highlighting the significance of the day and raising awareness.
One hoarding has been put up at the District Court Junction at Tezpur for six months in tandem with the International Campaign for Violence against Women and Girls.
