INSTITUTION AND CAPACITY BUILDING

Rapidly growing activism in diverse areas added new dimensions and responsibilities to the role played by TDMS.

 

Professionalism has entered the non profit sector and some deep introspection by TDMS led to the belief that there was paucity of professionalism in the organisation leading to underutilization of the Samiti's full potential.

 

The spirit of volunteerism is lacking in the present generation and therefore it has become necessary induct more professionals into the organisation to ensure its survival and growth. It was also felt that as a heritage organisation with decades of involvement in the development sector, documentation of its origin and experiences would be a meaningful contribution to the history of this sector.

 

The objectives of the project are:

  • institutional capacity building.

  • strengthening the financial structure of the organisation.

  • induction of professionals into the organisation.

  • documentation of the organisation's history.

 

At the end of the first phase of the project there was a tangible improvement in the areas of annual reporting, financial management and emergence of concrete targets for the income generation sectors.
