JUTE
DIVERSIFIED PRODUCTS
 This
initiative aims to add value to and create a
market for a locally available product. The
project started with seed funding form National
Jute Development Project, Calcutta, which funded
the project for a year.
The Centre is now firmly
established, mainly through the efforts of its
coordinator and its trainees. Various
household products like table mats, rugs, bags,
coasters, decorative items, door mats floor
coverings etc are popular not only for its ethnic
getup but also for its eco friendly aspects. 
This
Centre has made substantial contributions to the
general fund. Funds
are required to upgrade the jute handicraft skills of women self help groups to improve existing designs and quality and to adopt alternative designs for product development and better marketability in order to enhance their incomes.
